Harold N. (Norman) Moldenke (1909-1996) was a taxonomist and botanical educator. He was born at Watchung, N.J. He received his B.A. from Susquehanna University in 1929 and his M.A. and Ph. D. from Columbia University in 1934. His career at the New York Botanical Garden began in 1929 when he began a Research Fellowship. He was Assistant Curator (1932-1937), Associate Curator (1937-1948) and Curator and Administrator of the Herbarium (1949-1952). His fields were the Verbenaceae and Avicenniaceae a...
